My reflection journal today:

There has been a lot of publicity recently regarding how tertiary students should be attired in school. What in your opinion is appropriate dress code/ dress style for both male and female students and staff in RP? Why?

For males:

No singlets allowed (especially those white thin type). Singlets are meant to be worn under shirts. Not as a top. If they want to show of their muscles, at least wear a proper sleeveless shirt that is of thicker material. Even then, such thin sleeveless shirts should only be worn if they are working out.

No showing of boxers. I still don’t understand why this is such a fad. Their jeans are at their knees (figuratively) and their butts seem to be drooping down to the floor. It completely ruins their body proportions and it looks as if they are trying to achieve jelly-legs.

No slippers, (those white and blue striped type; market type). It is just not presentable. However this is acceptable for girls! Why? Mainly because girls have a variety of designs for slippers! Ranging from flowery designs and slippers with lace, and ribbons! And it will look presentable, even with jeans.

P.s. However I will allow this brand of slippers call havianas, as they can be expensive and they are a comfortable pair of shoes that will not give you blisters in your lifetime.

For girls:

No skirts that go beyond higher than half of the thigh. I have seen skirts that look like it could be worn as a top for me, seriously. If they like such attention, they should just waltz around in their undergarments, because some skirts are so short! This isn’t geylang.

No shorts that just cover the butt. I saw shorts today that were as tight as undies and they were so short till the girl’s butt could be seen. So obscene.

No transparent or sheer tops or top that have too much lace till it looks like lingerie. This isn’t a lingerie fashion showcase, it will truly deflect badly on that girls character to be dressed in such a manner, and it would also cause distractions during class.

No tops that are too low, if it is low wear a tube. If Mother Nature has blessed you with a well-endowed chest, you should protect such a gift instead of letting it spill out of your clothes. Showing less is being very professional; it shows you are aware of yourself and your body, and yu know how to present yourself.
